Challenge

The customer lacked a systematic way to leverage data in daily decision-making and did not have a data-driven culture. Individual experts used data in their work, but leveraging data was not integrated into the organization's everyday practices. There was also a lack of comprehensive approach to utilizing data, including how different types of data could be combined to gain a holistic view and what the concrete use cases were for utilizing data from various functions and roles.

Solution

A data strategy initiative was launched in collaboration with the leadership team. Digital Rebel was part of the client's team, responsible for creating a comprehensive understanding of the current situation, related challenges, and needs. Multiple individual experts from various roles and representatives from management were interviewed for the analysis. Additionally, a series of workshops were conducted to discuss challenges and needs with different stakeholders. Based on the analysis of the current state, a solid understanding of the organization's status, desired future state, and the path to get there was obtained.

We formulated a vision and strategic focus areas, goals, and high-level tasks, identifying the choices that needed to be made to achieve the vision. The focus was not solely on technical data capabilities but also on forming the organization's holistic capabilities, structure, and a data-driven culture.

The organization was also trained on data-related matters in small, easily digestible pieces. The organization received information and concrete examples once a week, explaining why leveraging data is essential, what data and analytics entail, and how to utilize them in daily work and decision-making. We also handled all the materials creation and communication related to the strategy work.

The focus was not so much on technical data capabilities but rather on developing the organization's comprehensive capabilities, structure, and cultivating a data-driven culture.
