Problem

Decision made. No senior lead to drive it.

Leadership has approved the transformation. The board has signed off on the investment. The teams are mobilized. Then the real problem surfaces: nobody inside the organization has the availability to actually drive what gets built. The project managers can run the timeline. The tech side has the architects. But the person who works the business side, or bridges business and technology when that's what's needed, makes the real trade-offs, owns the substance across teams, and carries the decision until it lands. That person isn't on the payroll. And hiring them takes six months.

I'm the senior substance lead, not the PM.

I embed in the organization part-time or full-time as the transformation lead. Not an advisor who leaves after a workshop. Not a project manager watching the schedule. The senior lead who drives what actually gets built: decision rights, scope calls, cross-team alignment, trade-offs. With real accountability. I've held this role under titles like Business Development Project Lead, Solution & Dependency Lead, CX Lead, Strategy Lead, and Epic Owner. All senior leadership roles, different titles, different organizations, same kind of work.

Embed and lead

I sit in the meetings, make the calls within the mandate, run the working groups, unblock the hard trade-offs, and coach the internal team. Senior leadership sees real movement, not status reports.

Hand it over

The engagement is designed to end. I document the decisions, train the successor, and hand over ownership so the role outlives me.
